Mission
The Oakland Review is Carnegie Mellon University’s premier literary arts journal. Since 1973, the publication has featured works of poetry, prose, and art, all reviewed and selected by a student-run editorial board. The Oakland Review is published annually and welcomes submissions from writers and artists of all backgrounds.
Managed entirely by undergraduates, and advised by assistant professor of English Lauren Shapiro, the Oakland Review accepts submissions of fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, playwriting, screenwriting, and artwork. It has been recognized nationally by the Association of Writers and Writing Programs, and has previously placed as a finalist in its Undergraduate Journal competition.
